Eye exams

A complete exam, explained in your language

The exam checks how you see and how your eyes are, inside and out. It takes about an hour, and at the end the doctor explains what was found and which lenses suit you.

Dr. Ochoa or Dr. Samaniego can do your exam. Both speak Spanish and English.

  • For adults and teens

  • With or without glasses, and with or without symptoms

  • Billed to your vision plan or medical insurance, depending on the reason for your visit

Step by step

What happens at your visit

  1. 01

    Step 1: You tell us

The front desk asks for your details and your plan card. You say how you see and whether anything worries you.

  2. 02

Step 2: Tests before the exam

An assistant measures eye pressure, takes images and checks how you see far and near.

  3. 03

Step 3: The exam with the doctor

The doctor examines your eyes, adjusts your prescription and asks questions in the language you choose.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Your results

The doctor explains what was found in simple words and answers your questions.

  5. 05

    Step 5: Your prescription

We give you a copy of your prescription. If you want glasses we go with you to choose them, and if not you fill it where you like.

For your visit

What to bring

  • Your current glasses

The reading, distance and sun glasses you use, and your contact lenses if you wear them.

  • Your plan card

The card for your vision plan or medical insurance, and an ID.

  • Your medicines

A list of the medicines you take, so the doctor has it on hand.

Questions about the exam

How often should I have an exam?

It depends on your age, your health and whether you wear glasses. The doctor tells you when to return at the end of your exam.

Will my eyes be dilated?

Sometimes. If the doctor needs it to see the back of the eye better, they explain it first. Light may bother you for a few hours, so bring sunglasses.

How much does it cost?

It depends on your plan and the reason for your visit. Read how fees work or ask for a written estimate.
