Eye exams for the whole family
A child can see well at school and still need glasses. During the exam a parent stays beside their child, and we explain everything to both.

By age
When to bring your child
Babies and toddlers
You can bring them if you notice an eye drifting, a lot of eye rubbing or a child who doesn't follow objects with their eyes.
Preschool age
A good time for an exam before school starts, even if your child doesn't complain of anything.
School age
If your child sits close to the board, squints or avoids reading, an exam can help find out why.
Teens
They often study and use screens for hours. An exam checks their eyes and which lenses they need.
First glasses
How to choose a first pair of glasses
- 01
A good fit
A frame sized to the face that doesn't slip or pinch behind the ears.
- 02
Ready for recess
We ask how your child plays and suggest flexible materials and tough lenses.
- 03
Their own pick
A child wears glasses they like more. We let them try on several.
Questions about children
Can I be in the exam?
Yes. A parent stays beside their child the whole time.
Does my child need to know how to read?
No. For the youngest we use pictures and tests that need no words.
How is a child's exam billed?
It is billed to the family's vision plan or medical insurance, depending on the reason. Some state plans cover it too; the front desk checks with you.
