Contact lenses

Exam, fitting and follow-up

Contact lenses need an exam and a fitting, on top of your eye exam. The doctor measures your eyes, picks the lens and teaches you to use it.

  • Trial lenses before you decide

  • We teach you to put them in, take them out and care for them

  • A follow-up visit to check how they are working

Step by step

What the fitting is like

  1. 01

    Step 1: Contact lens exam

The doctor measures the curve of your eye and checks your tear film.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Trial lenses

You take home a trial pair to see how they feel and how you see.

  3. 03

Step 3: Learn to use them

An assistant teaches you to put them in and take them out, and how to clean them.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Follow-up

You return so the doctor can check how your eyes are doing with the lenses.

  • Your prescription is yours. When your exam and fitting are done we give you a copy of your contact lens prescription, and you can fill it anywhere.

Questions about contact lenses

Do I need a separate exam?

Yes. A contact lens fitting is a different visit from your eye exam, and it is billed separately.

Can I buy my lenses somewhere else?

Yes. With your prescription in hand, you can buy them anywhere.

What if my eye burns or turns red?

Take your lenses out and call us. If the pain is strong or you lose vision, go to an emergency room.
